Rome Wasn’t Built in a Training Session…

GPR 1 Bedfont Park Dons 4

We got perfect weather as the boys made our inaugural step on to the pitch for the Roger Perry cup tie. The magic of the cup is that we don’t really mind if we get battered. Any Ultimate Team Manager knows chemistry is key, and on that front we more than delivered.

We were a little shaky as we got underway, but confidence grew and some early moves led to key chances that definitely showed a need to get on the training pitch. The boys went into the break 1-0 down, but picked their heads up and we equalised soon after through a beautiful ball by our midfield maestro, Cal. Allen pushed past two players and slotted it home. After that, we ran a little out of steam and Bedfont’s quality came through.

It’s a shame that we couldn’t advance to the next round, but for our first time on a pitch together the lads should be proud. There’s definitely the makings of a proper team, and we go again next week. Best of luck to Bedfont to the rest of the season, and to us for the hamstrings we no longer have control of.

MOTM 🏆 = it’s got to go to Greg for a debut in goal that didn’t reflect the scoreline. He made some excellent saves, and commanded the defence with authority.

DOTD 💩 = Junior gets the nod this week for his blunder in front of an open goal. Don’t worry mate, let ‘em have it next week.
