Football is the Devil’s Work

GPR 1 Richmond Saints 5

This game oversaw some of football’s greatest controversies reminiscent of Graham Poll’s three yellow cards, Stevie G’s infamous slip - this game had it all. On entertainment factor alone, we are comfortably in the playoffs, and goals are always guaranteed. Some crunching tackles here, a lot of very dubious decisions there, topped off with a well placed free-kick from our striker Prince that comfortably beat the keeper (who was 10 yards further up the pitch at the time… like I said a lot happened today that didn’t make sense). But regardless of the result, football is always the winner and it was great to see a few more lads make their debuts on home turf.

We have a lot more work to do in training for sure, but every week we are looking a little bit fitter, a little bit more structured. With that in mind, a 5-1 loss feels harsh, but it’s testament to our team spirit that we play on the pitch the same as we do off it - always finishing second. Manhood firmly intact, it’s time to give praise to the lads. Junior showed great promise as a marauding wing back (and had time for a cheeky salad 🥗), Greg put in some top top saves yet again, but the real champion was Brad: his achilles may have snapped, but his discipline hasn’t and it was great to see him out on the pints after the game, just as nature intended.

Keep going boys, every week it will get easier and it’s only upwards from here.

MOTM 🏆 = Greg, for some beautiful reflex action saves that will have David De Gea looking over his shoulder.

DOTD 💩 = It’s going to Specsavers, who unbeknownst to us decided to sponsor today’s fixture, making it seemingly impossible for some people to spot a blatant handball/offside/foul… multiple times. Cheers Specsavers, son’s crying.
